True, actually. I have epic EPIC pain problems, so of course I have epic pain management solutions in place. Upon running out of ideas for painkillers to try, they started giving me adjuvants (add-ons) to boost the pain relief effect. So, muscle relaxants etc, obviously. Interestingly enough, it turns out that a few anti-depressants have this odd effect that boosts the effectiveness of painkillers in some cases.
While the anti-depressants I went on did zilch for my pain, they completely ended the social anxiety I used to have. Just.... gone. I wish I'd known years ago. They make me function a little more normally, and I certainly seem to be the same person overall... just without the cold-sweats-n-hyperventilating thing when going out for a social activity.
