In Perth we are thousands of miles away from the current bushfires over East (but we do get issues of our own.) What some of the residents and tourists are going through is horrific and the government has been caught flatfooted. Having said that the fires ran away unpredictably and very fast. However, even now aid is going slower than it should be. Excuses will be made of course but in the meantime it is still a very scary situation for thousands in the area.
